Creation of the Tournament by Didier CROC, then President of the Basketball’s Section of AS CHANTEPIE, in 1992. NATIONAL tournament.
This Tournament concerned the U12 girls and was successful. A team had been constituted, a spirit had been born. Why to stop there?
So was going to be born the INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT of CHANTEPIE.
1st edition on June 5th and 6th, 1993 with the participation of the Czech Republic (Strakonice and Kyjov), of Belgium (Liège), and some departmental selections, for a total of 12 teams.
The 3rd edition of 1995 marks a bend with the location of the Tournament on the category U14 girls. This category is always the one concerned to this day.
Over the years, 14 nations were welcomed and accommodated by our local families :
The Czech Republic (from 1993 till 2002, 2004 till 2007, then 2009), Belgium (1993, 94, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2008), Germany (1994), England (1994), Lithuania (1994), Finland (1994 and 96), Italy (1995, 98, 99, 2001, 2002, and 2004), Albania (1996 and 98), Poland (1996, 99, 2000, 2004, 2006 and 2007), Spain (1998, 2003, 2006 and 2007), the Luxembourg (from 1999 till 2002), Portugal (2004), Slovakia (2005), and Holland (2009).
The fame of the Tournament asserted itself over the years while preserving both Didier CROC's fundamental principles : Competition and Conviviality.
The economic difficulties make the travels of the foreign teams harder and harder (the crisis ?) but never mind, the TOURNAMENT continues and leans on a level of game at the top of the category.
In the 2011 Tournament, 14 teams have competed in a very good spirit and a very high level.
We are working on the 20th of 2012.
The INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT OF CHANTEPIE, it is 13 committees, an office of 15 persons, about sixty or seventy volunteers, but also 60 in 80 host families and partners' hundred …
